Why was I charged?

Charges on your account usually relate to the service you selected, your appointment status, or an active subscription.

ADHD Advisor is a self-pay practice, which means members pay directly for services at the time of purchase and, in some cases, after an appointment is completed.

Common reasons you may see a charge

1. You purchased an appointment or service

When you sign up, you select and purchase a service before booking. This may include:
    •    Diagnosis Appointment
    •    Diagnosis + Medication Management
    •    Express Diagnosis
    •    Diagnostic Follow-up
    •    Therapy
    •    Medication Management
    •    Accommodation Forms

If you recently signed up or booked an appointment, the charge may be for that selected service.

2. Your appointment was completed

For some services, part of the payment is collected when you book and the remaining balance is charged after your appointment is marked as Occurred.

For example, if you booked a diagnosis-related service, you may first pay a booking fee and then see the remaining balance charged after the appointment takes place.

If your appointment was not completed, the remaining balance is generally not charged.

3. You are enrolled in a subscription

Some ADHD Advisor services include a recurring subscription.

Examples include:
    •    Medication Management: $130/month
    •    Therapy: $130/month

If you are enrolled in one of these services, you may see a recurring charge based on your billing cycle.

Medication Management subscriptions

If medication is prescribed and your provider determines ongoing medication management is appropriate, you may be enrolled in a recurring Medication Management subscription. This subscription supports ongoing monitoring, treatment adjustments, and follow-up care.

4. You purchased an additional service

You may also see a charge if you requested an additional service, such as:
    •    Accommodation forms
    •    An additional therapy session
    •    A one-time medication management visit
    •    Other approved add-on services

Diagnosis + Medication Management charges

If you purchased Diagnosis + Medication Management, your initial service includes the diagnostic evaluation and, when clinically appropriate, transition into ongoing medication management.

After the initial visit:
    •    your provider determines whether medication management is clinically appropriate
    •    if medication is prescribed, you may be enrolled in the monthly Medication Management subscription
    •    that subscription is billed separately from the initial appointment

Because of this, it is possible to see:
    •    one charge for your initial service
    •    and a separate recurring charge for ongoing medication management

Therapy charges

If you are enrolled in therapy, you may see:
    •    a monthly therapy subscription charge, or
    •    a charge for an additional one-time therapy session

Can appointment changes affect charges?

Yes. Charges can depend on whether your appointment was completed and how it was marked in the system.

For example:
    •    completed appointments may trigger the remaining balance for certain services
    •    missed appointments or late changes may affect credits, scheduling, or future billing workflows

If you are unsure why a specific charge appeared, our support team can review your account.

I thought ADHD Advisor accepted insurance

ADHD Advisor is currently self-pay and does not bill insurance directly.

If you were expecting insurance to cover your visit, that would not prevent a self-pay charge from appearing on your account.

In some cases, a superbill may be available for you to submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement, but reimbursement is not guaranteed.

What should I do if I do not recognize a charge?

If you have questions about a charge, please contact our support team and include:
    •    your full name
    •    the date of the charge
    •    the amount charged
    •    any relevant screenshots or details

Our team will review your account and help explain the charge.
